Moonbeam Shared Node

Moonbeam is a unique permanently-incentivized community-driven parachain on Polkadot. It is used to on-board tokenomical designs of decentralized applications for Polkadot.

Essentially, it is an EVM-compatible (interoperable with Ethereum blockchain and its virtual machine) technical environment for dApps of all types. Moonbeam-centric dApps are written on Solidity, Ethereum’s derivative of JavaScript. As such, its platform is friendly for dApps migrating from Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains.

Moonbeam’s native cryptocurrency is called GLMR; its supply is capped at 1 billion tokens.

Moonbeam’s full nodes act similarly to Substrate’s full nodes: they store the current network state and gather transactions. What’s more, they run the code required to ensure the connection between the parachain itself and Relay Chain infrastructure.

Collators run the full node for Relay Chain and a full node for their parachain (Moonbeam itself). Therefore, they are able to authorize transactions and add new blocks to the chain. Collator nodes don't secure the network: invalid blocks are rejected by Relay Chain architecture.

Archive nodes of Moonbeam store full history of the blockchain transaction, which allows to track the development of blockchain balances since the network’s mainnet launch.
