Bittensor performance notes
Bittensor is a decentralized AI network powered by Subtensor – a Substrate-based Layer 1 chain with a Frontier EVM runtime layered on top. The Subtensor chain coordinates specialized subnets where miners produce digital commodities – including AI inference, training, infrastructure, forecasting, and other computational outputs – and validators score the quality via Yuma Consensus. TAO emissions reward output the network finds useful, with dual Substrate and EVM access for developers.
Bittensor differs from general-purpose Layer 1s by making AI work itself an on-chain economic primitive rather than a consumer of one. Distinguishing capabilities include subnet-based incentive markets, Dynamic TAO (dTAO) token economies for capital allocation, and EVM precompiles that expose subnet state directly to Solidity contracts. The network benefits AI researchers monetizing model contributions, compute providers running subnets, and application builders consuming open AI services.
