Bitcoin Gold RPC: Why should you choose it?

Bitcoin Gold is one of the largest forks of Bitcoin, the first blockchain. The network forked from its predecessor in Q4, 2017 with the purpose to change the hash mining algorithm.

  • Just like all Bitcoin-like Proof-of-Work cryptocurrencies, BTG doesn’t support smart contracts by default. Despite this fact, it can be used for payment modules, centralized exchanges, non-custodial wallets, and so on.

  • The blockchain gained popularity as a more community-driven and less centralized version of the Bitcoin network. At the same time, it retains security and decentralization levels of its original codebase.

  • BTG still shares some elements of design with Bitcoin: its supply is capped at 21 million BTG coins, it has 10 min block time and halving events occur in the network every four years.

  • It replaced Bitcoin’s initial version of the mining algorithm with Equihash-BTG, a version of ZCash mining algorithm. This change was initiated to make BTG mining more ASIC-resistant, and, therefore, more democratic and inclusive.
