Litecoin is one of the oldest blockchains. Inspired by Bitcoin, Litecoin was introduced in 2011 by Charlie Lee. Its technical design has a lot in common with Bitcoin, so the blockchain is frequently called “Digital Silver”.
Litecoin is a Proof-of-Work cryptocurrency, so its transactions are verified by miners. It has a smaller block time than Bitcoin (2.5 secs), increased maximum number of coins (84 million), and a different hashing algorithm (scrypt).
Litecoin’s version of PoW inspired the launch of Dogecoin (DOGE), the largest and most popular meme coin that kicked off in 2013.
In 2022, Litecoin nodes underwent a major upgrade (soft-fork) dubbed MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB). The update enabled transaction obfuscation and allowed the network to join the ecosystem of privacy coins.
As long as you work with GetBlock’s LTC nodes, you don’t need to spend resources on servers, DevOps teams and so on: we offer ready-made blockchain nodes solutions that can be activated in minutes.
Our users can customize their LTC RPC nodes endpoints regardless of their previous experience with GetBlock’s intuitive interface and premium-level customer support.
