Kintsu

by

Water Cooler Studios, Inc.

Kintsu is a composable liquid-staking protocol on Monad, letting users stake their native gas tokens and simultaneously retain liquidity to engage with the broader DeFi ecosystem.

  • Liquid Staked Tokens (sMON) — stake MON and get sMON, a tradable LST representing staked assets.
  • Automatic Yield & Compounding — staking rewards (from validator rewards + MEV yield) are compounded to increase sMON value over time.
  • Composable Liquidity — sMON remains usable in DeFi, lending, trading, gaming, etc. while earning staking yield.
  • DAO-Governed Validator Registry — validator selection and delegation controlled through decentralized governance for transparency.

In short: Kintsu transforms staking into a flexible, yield-generating, and DeFi-native asset — bridging security and utility on Monad.

Pooled staking

Users' MON are pooled and delegated collectively to validators via smart contracts.

Liquid-staked tokens

In return for staking, users receive sMON — an ERC-20 token representing their share of the staked pool

Automatic compounding

Yield earned by validators is regularly added back to the pool

DAO-based validator registry

Validator and stake delegation are governed by the DAO.

By using Kintsu, users can stake their MON to earn network rewards while keeping assets liquid — enabling them to stay active in DeFi, trade, lend or participate in ecosystem projects without sacrificing security or yield.

  • Earn staking yield from MON without locking tokens.
  • Use sMON as collateral or liquidity across DeFi: trading, lending, liquidity provision, gaming, etc.
  • Benefit from compound growth automatically — sMON value rises with staking and MEV returns.
  • Participate in protocol governance via the validator registry DAO, influencing validator selection and staking distribution.
  • Gain capital efficiency: assets remain productive, not idle, even while staked.

Overall, Kintsu aims to combine the security and yield of Proof-of-Stake staking with the flexibility and composability of DeFi — making staked assets more useful and liquid across the Monad ecosystem.
