Optimism unveiles Bedrock in alpha testnet
According to the official statement shared in Optimism’s Twitter account, Bedrock, a high-performance rollup system, was presented on DappCon Berlin 2022 by a seasoned Ethereum (ETH) researcher Diederik Loerakker (also known as @protolambda).
Today at @dappcon_berlin @protolambda presented Optimism Bedrock and announced the release of the Bedrock Alpha testnet.

We're eager for devs to test their infrastructure and dApps with the new network!
Optimism devs stated that Bedrock finally entered its Alpha testnet phase. It means that every tech-savvy Web3 enthusiast can experiment with its scaling opportunities. Ethereum (ETH) engineers can study the documentation of the new protocol and even deploy their dApps to it.
Bedrock isn’t a persistent network now: Optimism is going to terminate it in October. Also, the network can be re-started voluntarily to fix the bugs.
Optimism Bedrock set to become a ‘cheapest and fastest’ rollup
Bedrock is up and running on the top of Goerli testnet (separate from Optimism Goerli). Blockscout was chosen by its authors as a public gateway frontend for token withdrawals and deposits.
For the first time, Bedrock was introduced by the Optimism team in May, 2022. The developers promote it as the fastest, cheapest and most advanced rollup architecture for EVM-centric applications.
Alongside with impressive scaling opportunities, Bedrock will have optimized deposits/withdrawal mechanism, more advanced synchronization methodics, optimal calldata submission, and so on.
