Dear GetBlockians,
For our fifth edition of GetBlock Highlights, we’re bringing in a truly special guest. Among all our previous speakers, bloXroute stands out with one of the boldest visions and most ambitious missions in the industry. These guys are literally pushing blockchain performance to the max by adding an extra layer of speed and efficiency.
bloXroute optimizes transaction flow, ensuring that everything its clients broadcast reaches mempools at lightning speed, all while integrating industry-leading MEV protection strategies.
Since the guys are en route to new blockchain integrations and performance upgrades, we figured it was the perfect time to catch up with the team and take the pulse of the blockchain infrastructure space (after all, GetBlock knows a thing or two about that as well).
Our magnificent Joan Williams, GetBlock’s Head of Marketing, sat down with bloXroute to talk MEV (of course), blockchain performance roadblocks, the next phases of expansion into TON and Solana, plus plenty more.
Here are some of the most inspiring highlights from our convo.
Joan Williams: Gm guys, thank you for coming. To start with, what's the core idea of bloXroute?
bloXroute: Hey Joan, thank you so much for having us. The core idea of bloXroute is speed and efficiency in blockchain transaction propagation. We provide ultra-low-latency infrastructure that helps traders, validators, and searchers see transactions faster, execute trades more efficiently, and optimize MEV strategies.
By accelerating transaction and block propagation, bloXroute levels the playing field in high-frequency on-chain trading, ensuring users get the best execution and minimize losses to frontrunning and network congestion.
J.W.: Okay. As such, what inspired the creation of bloXroute, and how has the vision evolved over the years?
B: bloXroute was founded to solve a fundamental bottleneck in blockchain networks: the speed and efficiency of data propagation. Blockchains, by design, struggle with scalability because nodes rely on peer-to-peer communication to transmit blocks and transactions. This creates delays, especially in high-frequency trading environments where milliseconds matter.
The started with the Blockchain Distribution Network (BDN), a low-latency relay network designed to accelerate transaction and block propagation. Over the years, bloXroute’s role has evolved beyond just speed—it now plays a crucial role in optimizing order flow and enhancing MEV strategies to help traders, validators, and solvers navigate the increasingly complex world of on-chain trading.
J.W.: Well, it didn’t take long for us to start talking about MEV. How would you explain the very concept of MEV to 5 yo?
B: Here’s a super simple way to explain MEV to a 5-year-old:
Imagine you and your friends are in line to buy ice cream. The ice cream truck only has a few of your favorite flavors left.
Now, imagine a sneaky kid sees this and quickly gives the ice cream man extra money to cut the line and buy all the best flavors before you can. Then, he turns around and sells them to you for a higher price.
That sneaky kid is like a trader using MEV (Maximal Extractable Value)—finding ways to jump ahead in line, change orders, or take advantage of who buys what and when, all to make extra money. bloXroute helps people see the ice cream truck faster and get their order in first.
J.W.: Are there any upcoming product updates, partnerships, or innovations that the community should be excited about?
B: We have several exciting updates on the horizon. First, its TON Trader API launch. We’re bringing our low-latency trading infrastructure to TON, giving traders faster execution and better opportunities.
Then, a couple of Solana Trader API enhancements are in the making. We’re refining our Solana Trader API to improve transaction efficiency and inclusion, ensuring traders get the best possible execution.
Also, some BSC searcher product improvements are underway. We’re rolling out updates to help searchers on BSC optimize their strategies and maximize opportunities.
Last but not the least, we’re about to finalize some ETH EVM refinements. With the upcoming Pectra upgrade, we’re making improvements to ensure smooth integration and continued performance for ETH mainnet.
For regular updates, we would invite everyone to start following us on X : @bloxroute.
J.W.: Are you planning to go beyond SOL, ETH, and BNB? And if so what chains do you consider?
B: Yes! As I just mentioned, bloXroute has recently deployed a Trader API for the TON network. We’re actively evaluating other chains where MEV plays a significant role. Our goal is to bring low-latency infrastructure and MEV optimization tools to ecosystems that can benefit from faster transaction propagation and better order flow efficiency.
J.W.: How does bloXroute’s MEV relay differ from other relays in the industry?
B: bloXroute’s MEV relay stands out because of its low-latency, high-performance infrastructure that ensures faster transaction propagation and minimizes delays, giving users a competitive edge in the MEV space.
J.W.: That was super insightful, guys! Wishing you all the best with Solana and TON stuff, and one more time thanks for coming!
