As Ethereum (ETH) successfully activated its groundbreaking The Merge update in mainnet, Ethereans are discussing the ‘next big thing’ for the largest smart contracts platform.

Ethereum Account Abstraction is in the spotlight: Here’s Why

On Oct.1, Ethereum’s co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared a detailed explanation of Account Abstraction, a game-changing tool that could turn every Ethereum wallet into a feature-rich smart contract.

In general, this upgrade (proposed by EIP 4337 in September, 2021) would allow the owners of Ethereum (ETH) wallets to equip them with smart contracts functionality.

Instead of forking the entire Ethereum’s L1, this upgrade would allow the users to implement various commands (i.e. changing the signer of account, changing the signing scheme, and so on) voluntarily just by slightly increasing the gas spending.

EIP 4337 activation could change the narrative in Web3

New instruments will go live through a dedicated mempool which would be separated from existing transactions’ mempool. Also, this scheme would reduce the volume of information required for on-chain transactions validation, Vitalik adds.

In his brilliant explanation for non-tech users, Ethereum researcher Julien Niset from Argent stressed that this change is about ‘decoupling’ account signer from the account itself:

Turn accounts into smart contracts with their own logic to define what a valid transaction is. The only requirement is that they comply with a specific interface with methods to validate and execute transactions. In computer science lingo we say that the account has been abstracted, hence the term: account abstraction.

What’s more, Ethereum Account Abstraction would allow Ethereum (ETH) users to turn ‘regular’ wallets into multi-sig ones and even replace ECDSA with other quantum-resistant transactions signing schemes.

Ethereum (ETH) nodes by GetBlock: Ready for the next big thing

That said, EIP 4337 implementation would speed up global Ethereum (ETH) adoption and significantly advance UX and DX for the next generation of Ethereans.

GetBlock, a top-tier blockchain nodes provider is always ready to support any initiative that is aimed at building a better Ethereum. Our shared nodes for Ethereum (ETH) are waiting for the new dApps of all types. We are proud to supercharge new DeFis, NFT marketplaces and metaverses with the disruptive power of Ethereum (ETH).
