In 2022, zero-knowledge rollups (zk-rollups or ZKRs) established themselves as disruptive and low-cost Ethereum (ETH) scaling technology.

Polygon Network (MATIC) makes Plonky2, Starky open-sourced

According to the statement shared in its social media channels and official blog, Polygon Network (MATIC) makes its two crucial workloads open-source.

Plonky2 and Starky, cutting-edge ZK-proof instruments are opened now for public audits, expertise, integrations and even forking. Both can be checked via Polygon Network’s main GitHub page. New elements of Polygon’s codebase are now licensed under the MIT and Apache2 licenses.

Plonky2 is a zero-knowledge proving system that makes zk-proofs incredibly fast and cost-efficient. Using such instruments allow Web3 engineers to build fast, low-cost and seamless systems for Ethereum (ETH) scaling.

Polygon Network (MATIC) nodes development aims at unmatched speed

Starky is promoted by the Polygon (MATIC) team as the fastest STARK prover in the entire history of smart contract platforms. ZK-STARKs (Zero-Knowledge Scalable Transparent ARguments of Knowledge) are used to keep the interaction between L1 and L2 in scalability systems cost-efficient, fast and attack-resistant.

Polygon (MATIC) representatives highlighted that this is a crucial milestone not only for Polygon (MATIC) nodes ecosystem but also for the whole open-source community:

ZK tech offers the best hope for scalability and privacy on Ethereum, but proof generation has historically been too expensive and slow to be practical for anything but simple applications. Plonky2 fixes this, and it’s a core part of how we’re scaling Ethereum.

As covered by GetBlock, Polygon Network (MATIC) recently unveiled its game-changing solution for L2 dApps dubbed zkEVM. It is set to ensure an unmatched level of L2 compatibility for blockchain systems on the top of Ethereum virtual machine.

As such, choosing Polygon (MATIC) nodes for dApps building is a smart bet in 2022. GetBlock, a top-tier Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform connects its users to fast and low-cost Polygon APIs.

With GetBlock, Web3 builders can access with Polygon (MATIC) mainnet and Mumbai testnet; shared and [dedicated nodes for Polygon (MATIC)] are available in free and paid tariffs.
