Ethereum (ETH) developers have activated Bellatrix, the last upgrade of the pre-Merge network. Here’s how it affected the performance of the second-largest blockchain.
Ethereum (ETH) Merge date now closer than ever before
Bellatrix, an upgrade that activates The Merge in a consensus layer (‘network backend’ of Beacon Chain), is now live on Ethereum.

Trenton van Epps, a community coordinator of Ethereum Foundation, confirmed that Bellatrix upgrade took place successfully. As it is now live, Ethereum (ETH) developers scheduled the last All Core Devs Call before migration to Proof-of-Stake.
As covered by GetBlock previously, Ethereum (ETH) is set to move to PoS consensus with The Merge scheduled on September 15, 2022. The Merge will integrate Ethereum’s Beacon Chain with the rest of its infrastructure to replace miners by stakers.
Ethereum (ETH) missed block rate surges, here’s why
However, the activation of Bellatrix wasn’t all roses: automated services registered the increased quantity of missed blocks rejected by Ethereum (ETH) nodes. Adam Cochran of Metacartel Ventures highlighted that this issue should better be fixed prior to The Merge activation in mainnet.
Big spike in the missed block rate after Bellatrix update.

Hopefully this can get debugged before the merge, we really don't want to be seeing unexpected issues at this late stage. https://t.co/yOBSzQtFUe
This indicator rallied 18x in just one day. Highly likely, this should be attributed to the position of node operators who didn’t manage to upgrade their software yet. By Sept.7, 2022, over 25 percent of Ethereum (ETH) nodes are not ready for the upgrade.
GetBlock meets The Merge locked and loaded: Details
By contrast, GetBlock, a top-tier provider of blockchain nodes for 40+ networks, upgraded its software kit timely. As stressed by our backend team, the software updates are installed to ensure a secure and smooth transition to the new Ethereum (ETH).
As such, GetBlock proudly invites all enthusiasts of Web3 to leverage PoS Ethereum for their dApps. GetBlock shared and dedicated nodes are ready to supercharge the new phase of blockchain revolution.
