What is Rootstock?

Rootstock (RSK) is a Bitcoin sidechain that enhances the Bitcoin network by enabling Ethereum-compatible smart contracts while maintaining Bitcoin's robust security through merged mining. It uses RBTC, a token pegged 1:1 to Bitcoin, to facilitate decentralized applications (dApps) and decentralized finance (DeFi) on its platform. By combining Bitcoin's proof-of-work security with Ethereum's smart contracts, Rootstock serves as a scalable and interoperable solution for building advanced blockchain applications.
