ZKBelgrade 2024 is live: Deobfuscating ZK usage in Web3
Today, on June 2, 2024, Belgrade’s 3327 team is hosting ZKBelgrade 2024, a global gathering of experts in all things ZK at Attic42 hub. Crypto OGs are discussing R&D, use cases, designs, and the philosophy of ZK tech.
In Web3, zero knowledge or ZK refers to a class of cryptographic methods that allow one party to prove to another that a statement is true without revealing any specific information beyond the validity of the statement itself.
Zero-knowledge proofs or ZKPs advance the levels of privacy and security by enabling verifiable transactions and interactions without exposing underlying data.
This technology is of paramount importance for decentralized applications, enabling secure and private verification processes, thereby bolstering trust and efficiency in blockchain ecosystems.
Since the technology is in its very nascent stage, there are a ton of challenges to address: from resource efficiency of ZKP creation and validation to integrating ZK developments in existing on-chain protocols and apps.

Speakers at ZKBelgrade 2024 cover a wide range of the most challenging problems in the ZK scene. Aleksandar Veljkovic (3327) kicked off the day with an explanation of the cases of ZK circuits as “simple, quick, and dirty prototypes.”
In an unbelievably inspiring speech, Sam Richards from MACI demonstrated accomplishments in building a fully on-chain decentralized ZK-powered voting architecture, “the most secure e-voting system in the world.”
