Earlier this week, Gucci announced that it had become the first luxury giant to start accepting BAYC’s ApeCoin (APE) as a payment method, the decision intended to increase further utility of cryptocurrency.
BitPay, an American-based crypto payment services platform, will provide the necessary infrastructure in order to perform fast and secure transactions in APE.
Gucci’s high-intensity interest in Web3
The Florence-based fashion giant has been showcasing heavy interest in prosperous Web3 technology. In Q1 2022, Gucci came out with its own “SUPERGUCCI” NFT collection in partnership with vinyl toy brand SUPERPLASTIC and a more high-end “Gucci Grail” NFT project.
APE has been added to the list of 12 other digital assets supported by Gucci. The exciting news was tweeted out by the official ApeCoin community page:

Moreover, the Italian brand announced that customers would now be able to make purchases in 12 crypto assets at 111 locations across North America. Those assets include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Shiba Inu (SHIBA), Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), etc. As of now, ApeCoin has been added to the list.
