GetBlock has registered that the Base usage was especially high. The network hit the top 10 of the most used blockchains, and other services also noticed an increasing number of Base applications. Let’s explore the reasons for its growing popularity.

Base Becomes Top GetBlock’s L2 Solution

Base is an L2 Ethereum scaling solution, developed by Coinbase using the Optimism OP stack. It is powered by the Coinbase facilities, has low gas fees, and is known as developer-friendly blockchain. No wonder that developers are flocking to it to build their apps.

In Q2 2024, GetBlock revealed its blockchain usage statistics, and Base appeared as one of the Top 10 of the most used blockchains. For example, it’s twice as popular here as Arbitrum and four times more actively used than Optimism, surpassing these popular L2 networks.

Other sources have noticed the large increase in the Base usage, too. Its total value locked (TVL) has been estimated as $5.8 billion, meaning that this amount of money was invested in its projects, according to L2Beat. On the DappRadar, Base appears as the second-largest L2 solution used to build dApps listed here, surpassed only by the more mature Arbitrum.

Another cutting-edge L2 solution, Linea, developed by Consensys, has appeared in the GetBlock tops, too. And as one can see further, new players continue to emerge.

GetBlock Offers All Mainstream OP Stack Solutions: Blast and opBNB RPC nodes activated

Being the top RPC node provider, GetBlock develops together with the whole Web3. As L2 Ethereum solutions become widespread due to their efficiency and ease of usage with low expenses, it adds them to its nodes.

In April 2024, two other popular Ethereum L2 solutions, opBNB and Blast, became available, and developers can open an endpoint to connect these blockchains and start developing right now. These networks have very low transaction fees, and each of them provides unique bonuses to its developers.

Both of them, similar to Base, are available as a shared node starting from $29/month, or as a dedicated node, starting from $600/month. It’s also possible to use 40,000 API requests for free, with a limited speed.

With such a rapid development of Web3 solutions, GetBlock adopts them quickly, making its contribution to the growing blockchain ecosystem.
