What is Eigenlayer?

Eigenlayer is a protocol built on Ethereum that introduces Restaking, enabling Ethereum validators to extend their security guarantees to additional services, thereby enhancing the security and scalability of decentralized applications. By opting into Eigenlayer, validators can participate in securing Verifiable Services (AVSs) and access shared infrastructure, earning rewards in the process. This approach allows developers to leverage Ethereum's robust cryptoeconomic security while maintaining the flexibility to build and operate diverse services within the ecosystem.
