Axelar is a decentralized interoperability network designed to seamlessly connect diverse blockchain ecosystems, enabling secure cross-chain communication and asset transfers. Through its General Message Passing (GMP) protocol, Axelar allows developers to invoke functions and transmit data across more than 35 supported blockchains, including EVM-compatible and Cosmos-based chains, using a unified API. Built on a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism and employing threshold cryptography, Axelar ensures robust security and scalability, while its suite of tools—such as the Axelar Virtual Machine, Interchain Token Service, and Mobius Development Stack—facilitates the creation of interoperable, chain-agnostic decentralized applications.
Axelar enables blockchain users to transfer assets and data seamlessly across multiple chains without relying on centralized bridges, enhancing decentralization and control. It reduces friction and complexity in using dApps across ecosystems, allowing users to interact with services on any connected chain from a single wallet or interface. This interoperability increases access to liquidity, functionality, and user experiences that would otherwise be siloed within individual blockchains.
