GetBlock extends our proven RPC infrastructure to include Sony’s Layer-2 network so developers can interact with Soneium the same way they do with Ethereum, Polygon, or any other chain on GetBlock.
Soneium RPC API is live on GetBlock
GetBlock now offers support for Soneium, Sony’s new EVM-compatible L2 blockchain. At launch, we provide Soneium Mainnet API access via both Shared and Dedicated nodes, and Minato Testnet access via a Dedicated node service — available over HTTPS (JSON-RPC) and WebSocket (WSS) protocols.
Therefore, GetBlock users can choose between two options. A shared-node connection provides instant access to Soneium RPC endpoints generated from the user dashboard. A dedicated node is deployed exclusively for a client’s use case, offering private capacity, higher throughput, and advanced options such as archive mode or custom configurations.
Shared endpoints for Mainnet are instantly available in the US (New York) region; additional location coverage will be added over time. Dedicated Soneium nodes can be deployed in US (New York), EU (Frankfurt), and Asia (Singapore) to minimize latency for production workloads.
This expansion highlights GetBlock’s commitment to staying at the cutting edge of blockchain innovation, ensuring clients have seamless access to emerging networks as they mature. Vasily Rudomanov, CEO of GetBlock and a blockchain infrastructure OG, welcomes a highly anticipated addition to the platform's stack:
Backed by Sony’s blockchain unit, Soneium sparked industry-wide buzz even before its official launch. But beyond the well-deserved hype, what excites me most is the synergy between Ethereum’s battle-tested foundation and the elegant, cost-efficient architecture of Optimism Superchains. The OP Stack is quickly becoming the new standard in 2025 — and Soneium’s RPC API is a perfect addition to GetBlock’s growing Web3 development toolkit.
Build on Soneium with GetBlock: Choose your performance tier
Within the shared node service, GetBlock offers instant HTTPS and WebSocket endpoints for Soneium’s mainnet. To get a Soneium endpoint, open your GetBlock dashboard:
Navigate to Shared Nodes tab.
Select Soneium mainnet.
Get your JSON-RPC or WSS endpoint URL and plug it into your dApp, wallet, or script.
For Testnet access, archive mode, or a node hosted in other regions (US/EU/Asia), request a private node deployment from the Dedicated Nodes tab. Once requested, GetBlock stands up a single-tenant full or archive Soneium node in a matter of 1-2 days. This option is perfect for high-volume production workloads.
Need it faster or with custom SLAs? Reach out to our Sales team, and we’ll prioritize your request.
What Is Soneium?
Soneium is a public Layer-2 blockchain built by Sony Block Solutions Labs (a Sony Group/Startale Labs joint venture) on top of Ethereum using the Optimism OP Stack.
It offers full EVM compatibility, sub-second block times, and significantly lower fees than Ethereum mainnet by batching transactions off-chain and settling them on Layer 1. Teams already building on Ethereum, Polygon, or other EVM chains can integrate Soneium with minimal code changes.
Soneium aims to power Web3 use cases – gaming, NFTs, DeFi, real-world assets, and creator-focused applications – leveraging Sony’s ecosystem to onboard mainstream users and developers into a fast, cost-effective environment.
