Despite its founder, Anatoly Yakovenko slams this status, Solana for sure deserves the ‘Ethereum killer’ label. Now GetBlock clients can deploy their decentralized applications to the most overhyped smart contracts platform of 2021.

Solana nodes API comes to GetBlock

The team of GetBlock a top-tier blockchain API endpoints provider, is excited to share that Solana (SOL) network becomes available for our customers.

Starting from mid-February, we’re offering a cost-efficient and ultra-fast connection to Solana’s shared and dedicated nodes.

Our Solana nodes work on the geographically distributed hardware (16-thread CPU, 64 GB DDR4, NVMe SSD) located in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. Currently, GetBlock’s customers can reach Solana via JSON-RPC method.

Solana’s nodes are accessible with 99.99% availability (7-day average) at 1 GBit/Sec speed. GetBlock leverages the most advanced v1.8.13 version of Solana’s software.

Solana’s archive nodes can be rolled out by request.

Here’s how GetBlock clients reach Solana (SOL) nodes

In order to demonstrate what is under the hood of our Solana’s module, let’s experiment with the getBlockHeight request. It is designed to unveil the number of latest block added to this or that blockchain.

In our request, we check this parameter by JSON RPC method. The result is the number of latest mined blocks. I.e. the node height (or block height).

Full code can be checked in ReplIt (just click a ‘‘Run’ button).

What is special about Solana?

Solana's node launch is of paramount importance for GetBlock: now we can supercharge dApps of our clients with the power of blockchain with 70,000 TPS.

Unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchains of first generations, Solana (SOL) harnesses Proof-of-History (PoH) consensus. PoH is among the most elegant solutions of a ‘blockchain scalability trilemma’, as it ensures fast, secure, and decentralized interaction between all network participants.

Solana (SOL)’s incentivized testnet Tour de SOL (TdS) started in Feb. 2020; the first beta mainnet transactions took place one month later. As we’ve covered in GetBlock, besides SOL ICO, Solana had a cascade of successful fundraisings.

In June 2021, it secured a whopping $314 mln from a clutch of VC legends such as Andreessen Horowitz and Polychain Capital.

Solana’s native cryptocurrency is dubbed SOL: it railed 173x in just 11 months of 2021 to set its current ATH over $260.

Who already uses Solana?

As per the DefiLlama tracker, Solana is the sixth largest blockchain by total value locked (TVL) across all of its decentralized applications. Solana’s TVL sits at $7.8 billion.

Currently, Solana is leveraged by 45 decentralized protocols. DeFi, NFT marketplaces, and on-chain games are the three most popular categories for Solana developers.

Raydium DeFi is the largest Solana-based protocol by TVL: its net volume sits at $750 million. Magic Eden is the most popular dApp on Solana by user count: it is visited by 25,000 Web3 enthusiasts daily.

Simply put, you’re still early: jump on Solana’s bandwagon with GetBlock.

GetBlock’s Solana users are eligible for our most amazing promotions: by ordering Solana’s shared node, you automatically get 40,000 free requests to it regardless of your previous activity on GetBlock.

Also, 2+1 promo is still intact: pay for 2 months of Solana (SOL) nodes utilization and get 1 month for free.

To order shared and dedicated nodes of Solana, please, don’t hesitate to ping our customer success gurus at Telegram and Discord.
