The discussion featured insights from Felicia, Operations Manager, and Jean, Marketing Lead at Shentu Chain, who shared their expertise on building a secure and sustainable blockchain environment.
In this AMA, we explored how Shentu is redefining blockchain safety, the role of OpenBounty in proactive security, and the tools they offer to build scalable, secure dApps. Let’s dive into the key takeaways from our discussion!
Shentu Chain, a digital bodyguard of Web3
Kate, GetBlock: Can you give our audience an overview of Shentu Chain and what makes it unique?
Felicia, Shentu Chain: Absolutely! Shentu Chain is a Layer-1 blockchain that puts security first. Our primary focus is making blockchain safer and more reliable for developers, projects, and users.
What sets us apart? Since we're based on Cosmos SDK, we benefit from flexibility, modularity, and high performance—which means we can keep things running smoothly while rolling out frequent upgrades. We’re also a big player in the Cosmos ecosystem, which means we’re always in sync with the latest innovations. And trust me, we don’t just sit back and watch—we’re constantly evolving to stay ahead of the game.
Speaking of upgrades, we recently launched version 2.14.0, our first major upgrade of 2025. This update introduces the WASM module, enables sign mode textual, and enhances smart contract functionality, interoperability, and transaction security.
And this is just the beginning! We’ve got big plans ahead. So if you’re looking for a blockchain that takes security seriously while keeping up with the latest tech, Shentu’s the one to watch.
K: Security isn’t just about responding to threats—it’s also about staying ahead of them. ShentuChain’s approach clearly reflects this mindset. Would you say this is the core mission of Shentu in the blockchain space?
F: Exactly! Our mission is to make blockchain a safer place for everyone—a place where people can build, transact, and innovate without constantly worrying about security risks.
We provide provable trust and top-tier security solutions, ensuring that Web3 interactions are safe and reliable. Think of us as a digital bodyguard for Web3—we’re here to watch your back.
Security is integrated directly into our infrastructure, with scalability and interoperability all baked right in:
- Secured with Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism,
- Interchain-friendly via Cosmos,
- Fully compatible with EVM.
This makes Shentu Chain easy for developers to work with. That means seamless migration, maintenance, and interoperability, making it easy for projects to integrate security without friction.
We don’t just protect blockchain projects; we empower them to grow and innovate without security holding them back.
Setting new standards for blockchain security
K: What inspired the creation of Shentu, and how is it transforming blockchain security?
F: Blockchain is amazing, but it also comes with serious security risks. In 2024 alone, hackers stole $2.2 billion in crypto. Why? Because blockchain infrastructure and smart contract logic are often completely transparent. This is great for innovation, but it also makes it easier for hackers to find and exploit vulnerabilities.
Shentu was created to change this. Instead of relying on off-chain security measures that react after an attack, we believe in real-time, on-chain security intelligence. Security isn’t an afterthought—it’s in our DNA.
Basically, we’re bringing a whole new layer of proactive security into blockchain with a suite of powerful tools that prevent threats before they cause damage:
- OpenBounty: A decentralized bug bounty platform rewarding developers for identifying vulnerabilities.
- Security Oracles: Offering real-time, on-chain security insights.
- Advanced security tools, including a Multisig Wallet and Cosmos Staking Dashboard for better asset protection.
Imagine every blockchain transaction, contract, and action being reviewed by a security expert in real time—that’s what we’re building with Shentu.
OpenBounty: Rewarding security, building trust
K: OpenBounty seems to be playing a key role in Shentu’s ecosystem. Can you tell us more about it?
F: OpenBounty, a decentralized bug bounty platform, is a game-changer for our security ecosystem. It bridges the gap between white-hat hackers and blockchain projects and ensures vulnerabilities are identified and fixed before they can be exploited.
We work closely with elite security researchers and help them collaborate with projects that partner with OpenBounty. We believe that OpenBounty isn’t just another security tool—it’s a solution that brings real-time protection to the blockchain space.
K: How effective are bug bounty programs in enhancing security, and what can be done to make them more impactful?
F: That’s a great question! Bug bounty programs are highly effective—but their success depends on two things: a strong hacker community and seamless project integration.
- Expanding our hacker community: We invest heavily in attracting top-tier security researchers, ensuring the right experts tackle the right projects. We also make sure their experience is rewarding so they stay committed to making Web3 safer.
- Making it easy for projects to join: Security shouldn’t feel like a burden. Through the Shentu OpenBounty Strategic Partner Program, projects not only gain access to security tools and expertise but also get marketing and exposure benefits (like PR, AMAs, and social media campaigns).
To maximize OpenBounty’s awareness and impact, we’re also rolling out a mix of community engagement, educational initiatives, and targeted outreach. The goal is to make decentralized security a standard part of blockchain development by showing its real-world value.
K: Can you share examples of projects benefiting from OpenBounty?
F: Of course! One great example is Bitcow, an Automated Market Maker (AMM) on Bitcoin Layer-2. Our security researchers identified a major vulnerability that could have led to significant risks. With Shentu’s security infrastructure, they detected and fixed the issue before any damage was done. That’s the kind of proactive protection that OpenBounty is designed to provide.
On the hacker side, OpenBounty ensures researchers are properly recognized and rewarded. When our first white-hat hacker identified a major vulnerability, they received a 5,000 $CTK bonus. Incentives like these keep the security community engaged.
Beyond individual projects, OpenBounty is helping to build trust in blockchain security and the credibility of decentralized ecosystems as a whole. All while ensuring that vulnerabilities are handled transparently and efficiently.
Shentu Chain for developers
Kate, GetBlock: How does Shentu’s interoperability benefit developers?
Jean, Shentu Chain: Interoperability is at the core of our strategy. Built on Cosmos SDK, ShentuChain seamlessly connects with other blockchains through IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication), enabling smooth cross-chain functionality.
This means we can build application-specific blockchains that aren’t just standalone – they actually communicate with each other.
For developers, it’s a goldmine. They can innovate on top of existing projects, create new dApps, and easily deploy cross-chain solutions.
For end users, it means a smoother experience and access to a broader ecosystem of dApps and use cases.
Combining it with Shentu Chain’s security features gives developers the confidence and tools they need to build scalable, secure dApps.
K: Bringing it all together: What does Shentu offer developers?
J: ShentuChain is all about making blockchain development secure, decentralized, and scalable. Here’s what we offer:
- Security: Built-in features that reduce risks of exploits and hacks, which are major concerns in Web3.
- Interoperability: Expanding dApps’ reach and functionality beyond a single chain.
- Developer-friendly tools: SDKs and clear documentation to help our users build and grow.
- Strong community support: If you ever need help, you can always reach out to us on socials. Our community is also super active and always ready to help.
Last but not least, ShentuChain is designed with real-world use cases in mind. There’s plenty of room for developers to innovate and create solutions that truly make a difference.
Overcoming challenges & building the future
K: What are the biggest challenges Shentu faces in advancing blockchain security?
J: Just like any blockchain project, we face our fair share of challenges.
- Balancing innovation with security: We’re always pushing to integrate cutting-edge security features, but at the same time, we can’t afford to compromise decentralization or scalability. It’s like the classic blockchain trilemma.
- On-chain & off-chain integration: We’re working to bridge these two worlds for a seamless security experience.
Looking forward, we’re building on some of the security-first initiatives we already have, like Oracles, OpenBounty, and the Cosmos tools. We are also exploring new areas, like the DeSci (Decentralized Science) sector, to expand our impact.
Ultimately, the long-term vision for Shentu Chain is to set new standards in security and trust. We want to make Shentu a sustainable, impactful blockchain—one that shapes the future of decentralized trust in the Web3 space.
K: Any exciting upcoming features or initiatives?
J: We have a lot in the pipeline!
- Cosmos ecosystem tools
First off, we’re really doubling down on our efforts within the Cosmos ecosystem. We’ve already launched tools like the multi-sig wallet and restaking tool, and we’re now shifting our focus to application development.
Since Shentu Chain is built on Cosmos SDK (which runs on Tendermint), we don’t have to worry about low-level blockchain operations like networking or consensus. Instead, we can focus on improving the user experience. Our Cosmos tools have received great feedback, and we’re committed to expanding this toolkit to give developers even more powerful resources.
- DeSci:
Decentralized Science (DeSci) is one of the most innovative areas in blockchain today. DeSci uses blockchain to solve complex mathematical and cryptographic problems, and we’re bringing Shentu’s security features into the mix with Coq-based zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) for validation.
(If you’re wondering, Coq-based ZKPs double-check and ensure that cryptographic proofs are mathematically sound and secure.)
This initiative has the potential to transform how researchers collaborate on complex challenges, and we can’t wait to bring it to life.
