GetBlock launches Stacks blockchain nodes

GetBlock now supports Stacks — a Bitcoin-connected blockchain that brings smart contracts, NFTs, and DeFi to the world’s most secure network.

Developers building on Stacks can use GetBlock’s RPC infrastructure to connect to and interact with the blockchain. GetBlock simplifies this process, providing ready-to-use endpoint APIs and a dedicated node deployment service.

GetBlock expands RPC access to Stacks

GetBlock provides flexible options for integrating and scaling their projects on the Stacks blockchain.

Users can access Stacks Mainnet via GetBlock’s Shared Nodes through the JSON-RPC (REST) API, which is a convenient way for developers to interact with the Stacks blockchain without the need to manage their own nodes. Access is available starting from the free tier.

For applications that need full control over their blockchain infrastructure, GetBlock provides Dedicated Stacks nodes. This service offers private isolated infrastructure with guaranteed performance and reliability.

By offering Stacks RPC access in three key regions, Europe, North America, and Asia, GetBlock helps maintain reliable connections from anywhere in the world.

How to get started with GetBlock’s Stacks RPC service

All the steps to obtain the Stacks endpoints and deploy dedicated nodes are accessible right from the GetBlock dashboard. To get a Stacks RPC endpoint:

1

Open your user dashboard

2

Find the “Get endpoint” button and select the Stacks blockchain from the available options

3

Select from available data center regions (Frankfurt, Singapore, New York)

Once the setup is confirmed, GetBlock will provide you with the RESTful JSON-RPC API endpoint URL.

To deploy a dedicated Stacks node with GetBlock:

1

Navigate to the Dedicated Nodes section and select Stacks

2

Choose your node configurations and select the deployment region (Frankfurt, Singapore, New York)

3

Let GetBlock handle the setup

What is the Stacks (STX) blockchain?

The Stacks blockchain is a network built on top of Bitcoin that enables smart contracts and decentralized applications to utilize Bitcoin infrastructure as a secure base layer.

Created in 2017 and originally known as Blockstack, its major upgrade – Stacks 2.0 in 2021 – introduced smart contract functionality through a programming language called Clarity.

The protocol relies on a unique consensus mechanism called Proof of Transfer (PoX), which leverages Bitcoin’s PoW to secure the blockchain and create economic links between BTC and STX, Stacks' native token.

Stacks aims to extend Bitcoin’s capabilities by bringing DeFi, NFTs, and other decentralized features without altering underlying security and stability.

By adding Stacks support, GetBlock removes common barriers to blockchain development – node setup, syncing, maintenance – and allows teams to focus on building and deploying innovative Bitcoin-secured apps.

Vasily Rudomanov, GetBlock CEO, explains what's special about Stacks nodes going live on GetBlock:

Stacks, co-founded by Bitcoin OG Muneeb Ali, pioneered BTCFi well before the term was even coined. Their solutions were actually where smart contracts on the Bitcoin scene got started. We're happy to support the next stage of bringing the world's biggest and most secure blockchain into DeFi architecture. On GetBlock, we offer Shared and Dedicated Nodes for apps on Stacks with multi-regional deployment across our New York, Singapore, and Frankfurt clusters. Every builder can find a suitable solution with minimized latency and automated setup.
