Last month, GetBlock proudly took part in Consensus 2025 Hong Kong, an experience that was both inspiring and full of surprises. Here’s what our business development pros had to say about their journey in February 2025.
GetBlock at Coindesk’s consensus: Reflections
First and foremost, Consensus 2025 exceeded expectations in terms of attendance. Even the organizers were surprised by how many attendees traveled from Europe, and many guests were impressed by the event’s value and overall energy.
But if one theme dominated the conference, it was AI agents. The intersection of AI and blockchain was the hottest topic on everyone’s mind. Nearly every attendee our team spoke with was excited about the possibilities AI agents bring to Web3, and the majority of side events were dedicated to this emerging space.
Leo Liu, GetBlock’s rising star in business development, was particularly impressed by Hong Kong’s pro-Web3 stance:
The Hong Kong government actively embraces blockchain and has introduced various favorable policies. AI and RWAs have become hot fields, showing that the Web3 industry is shifting from hype to practicality
Meanwhile, GetBlock veteran Ellen Airapetian noticed a growing presence of blockchain legal agencies, signaling a shift toward regulatory compliance:
There were plenty of agencies offering turnkey registration, legal consulting, and incorporation solutions. I bet this has become a trend recently—there wasn’t much talk about it before.
Leo and Ellen are enjoying the conference
Another standout observation? Venture capital is flowing back into crypto. Investors are once again hunting for promising projects, and early-stage startups are eager to secure their first funding rounds.
So much for the crypto winter! If Consensus 2025 proved anything, it’s that reports of crypto’s death have been greatly exaggerated.

RWAs and Memecoins in the spotlight - but infrastructure is simply not there
Beyond AI, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization remains a red-hot topic, alongside the resurgence of memecoins. The PolitFi boom in January has reignited interest in memecoins, particularly in Asia.
As Leo Liu put it:
The vitality of memecoins is constantly injecting liquidity into the Web3 market
However, from an infrastructure perspective, there’s still a major gap. Ellen and Leo both noted a disappointing lack of Web3 infrastructure providers at Consensus 2025—besides GetBlock, they could count them on one hand.
Yet, given the speed and reliability AI agents require, robust Web3 infrastructure is more essential than ever. Fast, scalable solutions like RPC nodes are key to powering the next generation of blockchain applications.
It’s time to change the status quo. If you’re building the next big thing in Web3, you need reliable infrastructure to support it.
