As Somnia charted its course toward mainnet and builders around the world race to deploy the first wave of ultra‑fast, on‑chain experience, we’re excited to announce a major enhancement to our RPC lineup. Starting today, Somnia’s public Shannon Testnet is fully supported by GetBlock’s dedicated‑node service. Just grab your GetBlock API access and you’re off to the races.

GetBlock is among the first major RPC providers to support Somnia

Somnia’s Shannon Testnet is now one of the networks users and developers can connect to via GetBlock’s RPC API. This upgrade to our services allows builders to reliably test high-frequency dApps on Somnia’s ultra-fast network, including MMO games, live trading, or social feeds updating in real time.

GetBlock’s Somnia support is currently limited to a Dedicated Node plan. The choice perfectly aligns with the blockchain’s high‑performance needs and a million‑TPS design.

Vasily Rudomanov, engineering veteran and CEO of GetBlock, comments on the launch of Somnia RPC nodes on the platform:

Touted as the fastest EVM-compatible Layer 1 in the space, Somnia aims to be the go-to smart contract platform for games, social apps, metaverses, and other data-intensive use cases. With a benchmarked throughput of over 100,000 TPS, reliable and accessible infrastructure is critical for Somnia to reach mainstream adoption. That’s where GetBlock’s Somnia RPC nodes come into play. At GetBlock, we’re committed to powering the growth of ambitious, high-throughput, and innovative L1 ecosystems.

What is Somnia?

Somnia is a Layer 1 blockchain purpose‑built for real‑time applications with EVM-compatibility in mind.

The protocol combines a novel “multistream” consensus with a custom, nanosecond‑latency database called IceDB. This design allows it to process over 1 million transactions per second with sub‑second finality and sub‑cent fees.

Somnia is particularly well‑suited for use cases like on‑chain gaming, SocialFi platforms, interoperable metaverses, real‑time DeFi, and other stateful, high‑frequency applications — all while remaining fully EVM‑compatible so developers can reuse existing Ethereum tooling.

As of July 2025, Somnia is live on its public testnet, where builders can deploy and stress‑test applications. The official mainnet is scheduled for later in 2025.

By offering Somnia Testnet access via private, dedicated infrastructure, GetBlock ensures every builder gets the raw performance and stability they need to develop and benchmark on Somnia Shannon.
