GetBlock Online Sessions: Why We Started

We're excited to kick off our Online Sessions season with something extremely simple in mind: Web3 is lacking real talks.

There are two poles. 

On one hand, we're stuck in endless loops of meaningless AMAs nobody listens to, cross-pollination "partnerships" (logo swaps), and faked engagement. On the other pole, there's an elite league like Bankless, Unchained, Untold Stories, and so on — you won't be there unless you have a decent nine figures in TVL or are ready to pay to speak.

Neither way is our path.

We're here to introduce real builders with their perspectives, angles, and experiences. Sure, that's not the most overhyped thing, but it's honest and very grassroots. We're here to catch what Web3 lives and breathes right now.

First Steps: Major Events and BNB Chain Rediscovery

We started humbly in early January 2026. GetBlock's Head of Business Development, Aleksandra Rudik, was in Lisbon at BUIDL Europe — one of the most concentrated gatherings of European Web3 builders.

In our first session, she broke down what was actually brewing behind the keynotes and sponsor booths. Not a highlight reel, but an honest look at the conversations happening in hallways and side rooms.

Then, our Head of Content, Vladislav Sopov, took us through the complete technical evolution of the BNB Chain.

We covered everything from BNB's launch as an Ethereum token to the moment DeFi demand forced the creation of BNB Smart Chain, through to BNB Chain Fusion, the Fermi hardfork hitting 0.45-second block times, and the 2026 roadmap targeting 20,000 TPS.
