Launched in mainnet in 2016, ZCash is a privacy-focused fork of Bitcoin Core software. The cryptocurrency is based on Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus and therefore is protected by miners’ contribution.

As ZCash doesn’t support smart contracts by default, ZEC RPC APIs can’t be used in NFT marketplaces and DeFis. However, ZEC endpoint is necessary for all privacy-focused apps, payments endpoints and secure e-commerce platforms.
