Nervos RPC: Why should you choose it?

Nervos Network is a programmable blockchain (smart contracts platform) initially launched in 2018 by Jan Xie, Terry Tai, Kevin Wang, Daniel Lv, and Cipher Wang.

  • Nervos itself (at a foundation layer) leverages Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus while its execution layers can be Proof-of-Stake blockchains. As such, Nervos RPC APIs connect devs to hybrid blockchain networks.

  • CKB Proof-of-Work is an advanced version of Bitcoin’s Nakamoto consensus dubbed NC-MAX. Its accounting method Cell is also a version of the UTXO model well-known for its role in Bitcoin, Cardano, Monero, and so on.

  • Common Knowledge Database or CKB is another name for Nervos’ foundation layer. Its execution layer for smart contracts is called CKB virtual machine or CKB-VM. Besides that, CKB node design is a basis for two L2 solutions, Godwoken and Axon.

CKB native cryptocurrency, gas payment instrument and accounting unit is called CKByte or CKB. It is also used in referendums within Nervos DAO.
