Godwoken is a second-layer scalability solution for Nervos Network (CKB). It is designed to advance throughput and performance of Nervos, a veteran Layer-1 blockchain on Proof-of-Work consensus.
Godwoken was introduced in 2022 as a community-driven open-source scaling platform. It is fully compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) which makes it interoperable with leading smart contracts platforms of DeFi and GameFi ecosystems.
Godwoken is natively bridged to Nervos’ L1 platform through The Force Bridge. This bridge also connects Nervos to other EVM-compatible blockchains and therefore supports the transfers of Ether and whitelisted ERC-20 tokens such as USD Coin, USD Tether, DAI, and so on.
Thanks to GetBlock’s infrastructure, clients can instantly connect to Godwoken API with Godwoken’s shared nodes.
What makes Godwoken stand out?
Nervos/Godwoken design allows the entire system to merge the benefits of L1 security with L2 performance and scalability. As such, it makes Nervos suitable for the latest DeFi and GameFi advancements.
For instance, Godwoken hosts YokaiSwap, a novel decentralized cryptocurrency exchange with an automated market making engine. Also, it hosts Nexis DAO, a first-ever DAO of the Nervos ecosystem.
Godwoken is planning to integrate with Cardano (ADA), light clients, payment channels and add support for MimbleWimble privacy protocol.
Which nodes does Godwoken use?
Godwoken’s design includes two main components: the Godwoken optimistic rollup framework and the Polyjuice EVM-compatible framework.
As per Godwoken’s decentralization roadmap, developers can run three types of nodes, i.e. ‘read-only’ nodes, challenger nodes and full nodes. Each type of node is added to the Godwoken mechanism on the corresponding phase of network deployment.
‘Read-only’ nodes only watch the on-chain rollup transactions while challenger nodes can check their legitimacy: if fraudulent proof is disclosed, the network participant in charge should lose his/her stake. ‘Full nodes’ are responsible for supporting and broadcasting network state.
What is special about GetBlock’s Godwoken shared nodes?
Godwoken and Nervos Network, therefore, have all chances to evolve into the next big names in the smart contracts segment: enhanced functionality of Godwoken will help Nervos in on-boarding high-performance DeFi and NFT protocols.
As such, GetBlock, a blockchain node APIs provider with 40+ blockchains integrated, added Godwoken to its toolkit. With GetBlock, you can move your dApp from Ethereum and other EMV-compatible blockchain to Nervos in a matter of hours.
GetBlock’s Godwoken shared nodes are smart bets for experimental DeFi designs and early-stage dApps of all sorts. Free tariffs are also ready for newcomers to the GetBlock ecosystem.
