Theta Dedicated Node

Theta is a relatively young blockchain, created in 2018. THETA coins are circulating on the network. They are designed to reward users who share their network bandwidth and processing power. Each Theta client becomes a node on a peer-to-peer network. With peer-to-peer nodes, the network acts as a decentralized platform for streaming video. Since the entire 1 billion tokens were issued at the same time when the project launched, mining is not possible. Instead, the algorithm rewards users' activity on the network with its coins.

At first, tokens were ERC-20 tokens circulating on the Ethereum network. As the project evolved, its tokens were exchanged and now they use Theta's blockchain. It is possible to create custom tokens on the blockchain, they have their own TNT-20 standard. With Theta Token Minter technology, issuing TNT-20 standard custom tokens does not require programming skills or other specialized knowledge. Various web3 apps, dApps, and blockchain smart contracts are also created on the blockchain using public and dedicated nodes. For writing blockchain smart contracts the common programming language Javascript is used.

The network relies on THETA peer-to-peer nodes, aggregated into the blockchain, to validate transactions. These include both public nodes and private (dedicated) nodes. In this network, THETA coins are used as rewards for network members. Independent of the blockchain, there is a network of nodes that broadcast streaming video. The THETA nodes, which are designed to handle video data, cache the data as well as retransmit it between nodes. The more nodes are connected to the network, the faster and more secure the network as a whole becomes. The caching of data and retransmission of data between nodes does not interfere with the transmission of information required for video viewing. In this way, mining is replaced by the activity of maintaining the network.

Since THETA nodes have different capacities and bandwidths, the algorithm involves finding the optimal route for information between nodes (public and dedicated). For this purpose, THETA nodes continuously poll each other. The tokens are used for calculations within the network, for example as rewards for video authors or subscriptions to paid content. Tokens are distributed using blockchain smart contracts.

Please note that tokens called TFUEL also circulate in the network. They are exchanged in the THETA client for THETA tokens. Also, in the client you can make a reverse exchange, THETA tokens to TFUEL tokens. This unit is needed to account for the computing power consumed by web3 apps, dApps, and blockchain smart contracts for the network.

THETA dedicated nodes are for developers who create web3 apps, dApps, and blockchain smart contracts for the network. Before launching your web3 apps, dApps, and blockchain smart contracts on mainnet, developers test their functionality in testnet without risking losing money. The mainnet and testnet settings are almost identical, except for the parameters of the nodes that are connected to.

The THETA dedicated node is a dedicated THETA dedicated server. Even for an experienced developer, installing and configuring the THETA dedicated server will be extremely complicated.
