Moonriver Dedicated Node

Moonriver, described by its developer Moonbeam as a ‘permanently incentivized network of canaries’, is a platform where developers could deploy their decentralized applications under realistic operating conditions.

Moonriver receives and approves all newly initiated codes first. Via connecting to Moonriver, users also gain access to Kusama, its Relay Chain, and are able to experiment with their dApps on both chains.

Moonriver was launched by the Moonbeam Foundation in June 2021. Moonbeam is a first layer chain, which mirrors Ethereum’s Web3 RPC.

Similar to Moonriver shared nodes, Moonbeam nodes are also available via GetBlock.

Moonriver uses its own ERC-20 utility token called MOVR to support the proper operating state of the platform, pay transaction fees, and perform other maintenance actions.

Currently, Moonriver is in its active development stage. In March 2022, The Moonbeam Foundation secured a second slot for Moonriver on the Kusama Network, the initiative being fully funded by the existing MOVR reserves.

As of now, Moonriver is working on increasing its mass adoption levels, reaching higher developer support and receiving more grants, which will allow for faster and more effective development to be carried out.

There are three types of nodes utilized by Moonriver: Full, Collator & Archive.

Full nodes include the code designed for running the parachain itself - Moonriver. Full nodes' main purpose is to validate transactions and add new blocks of data to the chain.

Collators make it possible to use full nodes for both the Relay Chain - Kusama, and for the parachain - Moonriver.

Finally, archive nodes. This type of nodes is used for storing the blockahin’s full historical background. Therefore, the blockchain’s history can be accessed at any time.
