What are the main distinctive features of Dogecoin (DOGE)?
Dogecoin (DOGE) has become one of the ten most popular cryptocurrencies in the world. This is all the more surprising considering that DOGE was conceived and implemented as a joke of the cryptocurrency community. The Dogecoin network was based on the program code of the Litecoin cryptocurrency (LTC), where the block generation time, the total number of coins in circulation and some other parameters were changed. The coin is based on the dog meme, and its symbol is a cute snout of a shiba-inu dog.
The total number of DOGE coins in circulation is not limited. Therefore, more than 100 billion coins are already circulating in the Dogecoin network. At the same time, there is a limit to the number of new coins that appear in circulation. No more than 10,000 of them can appear in the network per minute. The coin can be mined on any device that supports the Scrypt algorithm. These are both video card GPUs and ASICs. As with Litecoin mining, Bitcoin mining, and the mining of many other cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin miners join together in pools to solve the computing problem together. Litecoin mining and Dogecoin mining happen in parallel. This means that when a certain amount of DOGE is mined, the miner's reward also becomes a certain amount of Litecoin, and vice versa.

What is the Dogecoin algorithm?
Its algorithm is a kind of Proof-of-Work, which means that a mining operation is needed. Compared to Litecoin, Dogecoin has a shorter block time of transactions, which is 1 minute as opposed to 2.5 minutes for Litecoin. The Dogecoin network relies on a system of shared and dedicated nodes to confirm transactions. This is the similarity of the Dogecoin network with the Litecoin network and the Bitcoin network. Each DOGE client becomes a Dogecoin light node. DOGE light nodes are also called relay nodes because they only transmit transactions across the Dogecoin dedicated nodes. Once a transaction reaches a full Dogecoin node, it undergoes deep verification. Based on the results of the validation, the full Dogecoin node decides whether to include the transaction in the blockchain or discard it.
What role do the DOGE nodes play?
Since the DOGE network has largely inherited its properties from the Litecoin network, it has almost a similar node system. Just as in the Litecoin network and previously in the Bitcoin network, owners of full DOGE nodes receive no financial incentive for their efforts to maintain dedicated nodes of the Dogecoin network. In order to install a full node, it is sufficient to download and install the software from the official DOGE network website. The Dogecoin node will start working with full functionality only after downloading the Dogecoin blockchain and synchronizing with it. Synchronization of a Dogecoin node with the blockchain takes about a week.
Why are Dogecoin dedicated nodes needed?
Dedicated Dogecoin nodes are necessary for developers of blockchain smart contracts, web3 apps and dApps for the Dogecoin network. Since misconfiguration of an app can lead to the loss of DOGE coins, developers run their apps on Dogecoin testnet first. Dogecoin mainnet and Dogecoin testnet differ in the parameters of the Dogecoin nodes that are connected to.
Dogecoin dedicated nodes have a powerful Dogecoin API for developers. It has support for websockets blockchain API, JSON RPC blockchain API and other API methods. The commands also include blockchain endpoints and wallet endpoints. Since setting up and configuring a dedicated Dogecoin node is extremely complicated even for an experienced developer, a good alternative would be a Dogecoin blockchain node as a service. In this case, you can both realize the full Dogecoin potential and get rid of a lot of the hassle of installing and configuring a Dogecoin dedicated server.
